Profile
Protourstringer.co.uk is the website of Sam Chan, racquet stringer to the champions.
I am a keen player of all racquet sports and have been stringing racquets for more than 30 years.
As well as stringing for the pros at international tournaments, I provide a personal racquet stringing and customisation service for all levels of players from my workshop in West London.
It is my belief that all players are entitled to have their racquets strung to the highest standard, regardless of their status within the sport.
Grand Slam Stringer
In the course of my career, I have been a member of the Official Stringing Team at a total of 16 Grand Slam Tournaments.
2006 saw me stringing racquets at all four Grand Slam Tournaments in one calendar year - The Australian Open, The French Open, The Wimbledon Championships and The US Open.
Personal Stringer
I have been "Personal Stringer" to many of the world's top players including Serena Williams when she won the singles title at Wimbledon in 2002 and 2003, Anthony Dupuis when he won at Milan 2004, Roger Federer when he won at the AIG Japan Open 2006 and Rafael Nadal when he won his first grass court tournament at the Artois 2008.
Olympic Stringer
In 2004, I was invited to be a member of the Official Olympic Stringing team in Athens, Greece.
I was personal stringer to Tim Henman and Roger Federer as well as several of the games medallists; Mardy Fish, Ivan Ljubicic, Ting Li and Tian Tian Sun.
Accreditation
I am a USRSA Master Racquet Technician, ERSA Master Racquet Technician, ERSA Certified Pro Tour Stringer and ERSA/USRSA Certification Tester. I am also an Honorary Member of the Japan Racquet Stringers Association.
